Minimally Invasive Pain and Spine CareDr. Aathi Thiyaga is an American Board Certified Specialist in Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation with subspecialty certifications in Pain Medicine and Spinal Cord Injury Medicine. He is the only physician with the dual qualification in Pain Medicine and Spinal Cord Injury Medicine in the State of South Carolina as per American Board of Medical Specialists ABMS database. He completed his residency at the Tufts University and pain management fellowship at the Harvard Medical School. He was trained in spinal cord injury medicine at the Boston VA Hospital.
Our philosophy is to control pain while monitoring the progress of the spinal disease. Dr. Thiyaga's expertise and sub-specialization in spinal cord medicine helps to identify early surgical and non-surgical interventions to avoid spinal cord injuries.
We specialize in x-ray guided minimally invasive needle procedures. Services include past medical review, initial consultation, electro-diagnostic studies and pain relieving procedures. Based on our evaluation, we will provide therapeutic options. If need arise, we may refer you to spine surgeons for open spine surgery or non-invasive pain specialists for long term pain management.
We offer excellence in patient care, personal attention by attending
physicians only, and very short wait times for our patients. Treatment plans are
specifically designed for each individual to reduce pain, improve function, and
maximize quality of life.
All spinal procedures are performed under fluoroscopy (minimal x-ray) in order to assure the highest level of safety and efficacy. We do not perform any "blind" procedures. Images are recorded and available upon request. All spinal procedures are performed only by Dr. Thiyaga; we do not have interns, residents or students. All patients are referred by primary care physician or specialist. We do not accept self referrals for spinal pain care.
